It wasn't the light that caught his eye, it was the shape in it. As the shape approached, it became more defined; slowly he was able to make out arms and legs. A man was slowly approaching, not hurriedly, but with determination. As the silhouette drew closer, it became more distinct, until it was obvious it was a woman and not a man. She stopped in front of him, leaning down to take a closer look at what she must have thought was a corpse. He tried to move, but couldn't. He took as deep a breath as he could and let it out as quickly and loudly as his strength could support. Her eyes snapped to his face, clearly trying to decide if she had heard something or not. He inhaled and exhaled again, as quickly as he could before she looked away.
