Chie went from store to store, from the groceries to the supermarkets, backtracking along the flea markets, carefully listening to the sounds of people fighting over for what is left from special sales. Arming with only a few dollars left for the day, she marched into the territories infested with bargain hunters alone with only two feet, two arms.
A few cabbages are the only booty she could sight under her tiny periscope, and onwards she gripped, only for it to pry open as an oncoming pair of grown-ups hands clawed through it. The booth finally recede, leaving her flustered on the floor, broken leaves in her hands.
"Sigh... guess it's rice without side dishes tonight.."
Unenthutiastic, she shuffled to the exit leaving the only last place she could afford to spend. Inattentive, her face crashed onto passing crowd, to be greeted with a voice familiar to her.
"I've figured you'd come. So I bought two of them! One for me and one for you."
Being the only cook in her small family, she decided that older brother of hers be in charge with sales hunting from now on.
"I wasn't trying to sell it to you. You're my little sister. Was it something that I said?"
